hack/make/binary-daemon: fix some linting issues
- Add quotes to prevent word splitting in `cp` statement (SC2046)
- Replace legacy back tics with `$()`
- Replace `which` with `command -v` (SC2230)
- Fix incorrect (`==`) comparison
