#### Unable to find a build program corresponding to "Ninja" #### Unable to find a build program corresponding to "Ninja"
Solution to try: If you do in fact already have Ninja installed, then first try reinstalling Ninja. This error message is a red herring. We use vcpkg to manage our third-party dependencies, and this error is logged when
something went wrong building those dependencies. The output in your terminal will vary depending on what exactly went
Details: If you see the message *“Unable to find a build program corresponding to "Ninja"”*, its likely not an indication that the build tooling cant actually find Ninja, but instead an indication that the tooling found Ninja but it failed to run successfully. wrong, but it should look something like:
So, when you do run into that error message, the way to start figuring out whats actually wrong is to try invoking Ninja manually, like this:
``` ```
ninja -C Build/ladybird error: building skia:x64-linux failed with: BUILD_FAILED
Elapsed time to handle skia:x64-linux: 1.6 s
-- Running vcpkg install - failed
CMake Error at Toolchain/Tarballs/vcpkg/scripts/buildsystems/vcpkg.cmake:899 (message):
vcpkg install failed. See logs for more information:
Build/ladybird/vcpkg-manifest-install.log
Call Stack (most recent call first):
/usr/share/cmake-3.30/Modules/CMakeDetermineSystem.cmake:146 (include)
CMakeLists.txt:15 (project)
CMake Error: CMake was unable to find a build program corresponding to "Ninja". CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM is not set. You probably need to select a different build tool.
-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred! See logs for more information:
Build/ladybird/vcpkg-manifest-install.log
``` ```
Then, based on what output you get from that, you can troubleshoot the *actual* problem youre running into — which may involve uninstalling your current Ninja install, and then re-installing it. If the error is not immediately clear from the terminal output, be sure to check `Build/ladybird/vcpkg-manifest-install.log`
for more information.
