<h2>Installing Docker</h2>

<ol>
	<li>Log into the Linux based device</li>
	<li>Run the following commands in the terminal

	# add docker gpg key<br />

	# add docker software repository<br />
	sudo add-apt-repository &quot;deb [arch=$(dpkg --print-architecture)] https://download.docker.com/linux/$(awk -F&#39;=&#39; &#39;/^ID=/{ print $NF }&#39; /etc/os-release) $(lsb_release -cs) stable&quot;<br />
	# install docker<br />

<h2>Running HomeDash</h2>

	<li>Now that Docker is installed, run the following commands to setup the HomeDash Docker container

	# set owner of working directories<br />
	sudo chown &quot;$USER&quot;:&quot;$USER&quot; ~/docker -R<br />
	# generate a 32 character random string<br />
	RANDOM_STRING=$(head /dev/urandom | LC_ALL=C tr -dc &#39;A-Za-z0-9&#39; | head -c 32)<br />
	# copy the output string to the clipboard<br />
	# run the homedash container<br />
	docker run -d --name homedash -p 4567:4567 -v /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro -v ~/docker/homedash:/data -e SALT=&quot;$RANDOM_STRING&quot; --restart=unless-stopped gonzague/homedash</div>

	<li>Open a web browser and navigate to http://DNSorIP:4567</li>
