  27. <li>30-40 GB of free disk space</li>

  29. <h2>Creating the Bootable .iso</h2>

  31. <li>Download the MacOS install from the Mac App Store<br />
  32. <span style="font-size:0.7em;"><em>NOTE: the easiest way to find them is to use a search engine, for example:<br />

  34. <li>Click the Get button</li>
  35. <li>Wait for Software Update to find the update</li>
  36. <li>When prompted, click Download</li>
  37. <li>Wait for the download to complete</li>
  38. <li>Once the download completes, quit the installation if its starts</li>
  39. <li>Start LaunchPad from the dock</li>
  40. <li>Search terminal &gt; Click Terminal to launch it</li>
  41. <li>Run the following commands in terminal, altering the MacOS Installer name as needed

  43. hdiutil create -o /tmp/macOS -size 15000m -volname macOS -layout SPUD -fs HFS+J<br />

  46. # use createinstallationmedia utility to copy files<br />
  47. sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Monterey.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/macOSISO --nointeraction<br />
  48. # unmount the temporary disk image, alter the OS name as needed<br />
  49. hdiutil detach -force /Volumes/Install\ macOS\ Monterey<br />
  50. # convert the disk image to .iso<br />
  51. hdiutil convert /tmp/macOS.dmg -format UDTO -o ~/Desktop/macOS.cdr<br />
  52. # change the extension from .cdr to .iso<br />
